LENZO’s top #BridalTrends to inspire you for your Big Day...
After scouring Pinterest and Instagram, combing through Vogue Bride, and drinking more cappuccinos than we care to admit, LENZO has compiled a list of the standout wedding fashion trends for 2018 for you. You’re welcome.
Here’s what brides can expect in the upcoming year when it comes to wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and accessories. Prepare for some exciting new picks as well as time-honoured favourites.
Bohemian wedding dresses
Brides who love the relaxed and casual look can breathe a sigh of relief as we can confirm that boho and beach wedding dresses are here to stay. Seaside and rural weddings are still two of our fave places to tie the knot, and we’ve seen gowns embracing fringed bell sleeves and crochet flourishing to complement these locations.
Couture wedding gowns
We’ve also seen the other end of the spectrum, with brides walking down the aisle in designer wedding dresses – the more elaborate, the better. Think ball gowns or sweeping three metre trains by famous Melbourne and Sydney wedding dress designers, Swarovski crystal bodices, and matching gold bridal crowns with pearls. We love these two styles from Berta Bridal, available at Raffaele Ciuca.
Capes are also making a huge mark this year, with either full-length capes or a cute cropped bolero replacing the traditional bridal veil. Whether embellished all over with feathers and pearls or a simple lace motif around the collar, it’s just the royal touch that 2018 brides are looking for.
White bridesmaid dresses
It’s 50 shades of white for bridesmaids this year: think dresses in shades of snow, grey, silver, or cream to accompany the bride as she walks down the aisle. No longer considered taboo at weddings, the entire bridal party is encouraged to wear white to match a tradition that extends as far back as Roman times, where bridesmaids would don similar attire to that of the bride to confuse evil spirts (or angry ex-boyfriends!) into who was actually getting married that day.
Other popular bridesmaid dress colours? Black, blue, purple, and burgundy.
Edgy denim and leather jackets for the bride
Looking for an oh-so-stylish accessory to throw on after the vows have been said? You can’t get cooler than a denim or leather jacket. This 2018 wedding fashion trend creates a rock-chic vibe that will instantly transform your look as you move from the ceremony to the party.
Matching #squad robes, shirts, or even onesies are a wedding fashion trend we’re still seeing – and loving! – in 2018. From floral patterns to lace or silk, and monogrammed or kept standard, bridesmaid kimonos double as the perfect gift for your bride tribe as well as making for a cute photo op on the morning of your wedding as you get ready together.
We’re seeing a lot more brides prefer a simple wedding gown but go all-out for their jewellery. Ditching the demure pearl studs or one-chain necklace and opting for bold chandelier earrings or a tight-fitted choker is a trend we’re on board with, wholly.
