Wedding inspiration for the sophisticated modern day couple
With more and more couples choosing to abandon OTT styling in favour of more relaxed and clean elements on their wedding day, it’s obvious that there’s beauty in simplicity. At LENZO, we’ve been lusting over the concept of an understated wedding (we think 2019 will be the year of minimalism!), which is why we’re so excited to share with you our first editorial of the year: a minimalist modern wedding!
Using crisp monochrome details accented with gold and blush pink elements, we embraced a muted palette to recreate our dream wedding at the picturesque Summergrove Estate in NSW. Captured by the wonderfully talented team at Figtree Pictures, get ready to be swept away by our enchanting and intimate wedding shoot…
The wedding venue and flowers
Set alongside 73 lush acres with spectacular oceanic and Tweed hinterland views, Summergrove Estate offers unlimited priceless photo opportunities (just take a look at that gorgeous ceremony backdrop!)
A white rectangle timber arbour provided by Ivy and Bleu Events with asymmetrical foliage favouring one side made for a modern and elegant altar.
And would you look at those gorgeous florals by Lola’s Wildflowers! The earthy tones and dried foliage coupled with pillar candles lends an ethereal and romantic ambiance.
BUY: wedding bouquet
We especially love the draped fabric used to accompany the wedding bouquet. It’s this detailing that can really help make a subtle difference to the standard arrangement. It’s also a great way to connect elements together, such as incorporating fabric in your wedding vow book.
In addition to being such a beautiful venue, we’ve fallen in love with Summergrove Estate for its ability to host both the ceremony and reception. Your guests will truly appreciate the seamless transition from ‘aww’ to ‘whoah’ (did we mention that Summergrove Estate has onsite accommodation, complete with log fireplaces and spa baths?)
You heard it here first: Summergrove Estate will be the new “it” venue for Gold Coast, Brisbane, and northern NSW brides and grooms! (BONUS: All our lovely suppliers who helped out in this editorial are also available to travel to you across these locations!)
The wedding decor and tablescape
Beaded plateware and crisp white linen teamed with blush pink napkins exuded elegance in this table setting by Ivy and Bleu Events. The dried twigs and earthy florals by Lola’s Wildflowers added an understated charm as the table centrepieces.
Valiant Events provided those gorgeous dining chairs straight from their latest furniture collection.
While it’s no secret that we love a good balloon installation, we tried our very best to keep it subdued with an all-white palette feature behind the main table, courtesy of Bang Bang Balloons. (Of course, in true LENZO style, we did request a floor-to-ceiling display, with white Phalaenopsis orchids entwined – we couldn’t resist a bit of a twist on the standard balloon installation!)
The wedding cake and desserts
Keeping your desserts and wedding cake in your chosen colour palette is a great way to create a cohesive theme. Milk & Honey Cake Creative did an amazing job creating these delectable desserts – all-white icing with gold flakes seamlessly carried the theme from the décor and tablescape straight through to the food.
These cake pops and cupcakes tasted just as good as they looked – if not better!
And that cake is just #DIVINE – just look at those wafer fans that add texture!
The drinks station
Of course, it’s not a celebration without Yellowglen, who generously provided their latest collection of sparkling wine to help keep the festivities going. We created a chic outdoor beverage station using Valiant Events’ white bar and adorned it with a balloon installation and fresh flowers on either side. Pickawall added the pink sticker inserts into the panels to add extra texture.
HIRE: white panel bar
How cute are those cocktail stirrers and straws from Palm & Pine Party Co? It’s a cheeky way to incorporate a little splash of colour into your neutral palette without affecting the overall aesthetic.
Can we take a look at that bouquet again? #TODIEFOR!
BUY: custom table decal
Pickawall lent their amazing talent to create that oh-so-pretty table decal in baby pink. "Great love affairs start with champagne" - we couldn't agree more!
The wedding fashion
Just because your décor and tablescape is minimalist, it doesn’t mean your wedding dress or suit has to be! We couldn’t decide on just one, so we styled our groom Joao in three tailored suits, all supplied by Institchu! Light blue linen, black tux, or even white – we can’t decide which one is our favourite!

And let’s not forget our gorgeous bride Zoe, who is wearing a stunning wedding dress from The Bridal Atelier. Check out that intricate lace detailing!
Of course, no outfit is complete without a pair of sleek shoes from Bared Footwear!
We love the idea of a couple wearing matching colours, especially if you’re getting married in the summer months or at an exotic location.
(See, we told you there’s no shortage of photo ops here at Summergrove Estate!) And, don’t you just love these adorable Mr. and Mrs. Balloons from Bang Bang Balloons? So cute!
The wedding stationery
A monochrome palette is the perfect opportunity to capitalise on timeless typography. Black calligraphy made an effortless impact against the raw textured linen and transparent paper used for the invitations, menu, and place cards - all of which were lovingly designed by Vorfreude Stationery.
Of course, after an eventful day and night, there’s no better feeling than to relax and unwind in style. Our beautiful bride wrapped herself up in luxe silk pyjamas and robe from Sleeping W. The Enemy, and lounged about on the latest event hire pieces from Valiant Events.
How cute is that etched stemless glass from Vorfreude Stationery? With custom script available, it’s the perfect gift for your bridesmaids! Pop it into a bridesmaid proposal box before popping the question to them – they’ll just have to say yes!
And what about spoiling the bride-to-be? A Frieda Need wedding emergency kit is the ultimate gift that she is sure to appreciate on the day. Filled with 40 essential everyday items for those ‘just in case’ moments (like a headache or a dropped hem!) this thoughtfully curated box is guaranteed to come in handy.
Don't forget to include a personalised wedding guest book! This carefully designed linen book is from Vorfreude Stationery, and is the perfect keepsake memento that she is sure to cherish for years to come.
When less is more: how to plan a minimalist wedding
When it comes to minimalism, it’s important to remember that it’s not about eliminating details. Rather, it’s about shifting the focus to what really matters: a cleaner look can make each element stand out in their own right. If you love the idea of a minimalist wedding (and who doesn’t?!), why not ask LENZO to style yours?
