This 'too pretty to drink' DIY ice tray by Janie Medley at 'The Brides Cafe' just had to be shared! It's the ultimate home entertaining project - it's quick, easy and it will have your guests cooing for more. We're off for cocktail hour now... over to you Janie!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Edible Pansies
- Plastic Food Tray
- Mini Ice Tray Plastic Cup
- Designer rocks or coins to fill the cups
STEP 1: The night before the event, fill the ice trays with water and place 2-3 pansies on top and place in the freezer.
STEP 2: Place the plastic cups on the tray…I placed 3 on each side and place the rocks/coins in the cups to weigh them down. Fill the tray with water until it’s about ½ inch deep. Note: if you are using water tap water, you should pre-boil it to keep the water from being cloudy. I used bottled water to avoid having to boil the water.
STEP 3: Place the pansies in the water and space them out to your liking. Place in the freezer overnight. When ready to use the pansy tray, remove the tray from the freezer and remove the rock/coins from the plastic cups. Pour a little hot water in the cup to remove it from the tray.
STEP 4: Finally, place the prepared drinks with the pansy ice cubes on the tray and you are ready to serve your guests. I added a few fresh pansies to the tray as well.
