Make your day even more memorable with matching outfits for your #bridesquad
When you wake up on your wedding morning, you want to feel special – and putting on an old shirt to get your hair and makeup done just won’t do. You’ll have friends and family surrounding you on your wedding morning, sharing laughs, photos and bubbly, so you want to look your absolute best without feeling self-conscious.
You may not realise this, but your ‘getting ready’ attire is an important part of the day as it helps to set the mood for what’s to come! And, getting pampered shouldn’t stop with your hair and makeup, which is why LENZO is loving the latest wedding trend of seeing the bride-to-be and her maids slipping into matching robes and PJs as they get ready. But with so many choices out there, it can be overwhelming having to decide on what to wear on the morning of your wedding day.
So, we asked boho goddesses Cookies & Ry to share their tips on what to wear as you and your #teambride squad get ready.
Tip 1: Consider the season in which you’re getting married
Whether it’s the middle of summer in Byron Bay or the start of winter in Melbourne, creating a look for wedding morning bliss is essential.
- For the spring bride: What else but florals, lace, and satin? Make the most of the fresh spring trends and have fun in something bright and pretty. Embroidered florals is a great way to bring in a bit of spring while staying bridal.
- For the summer bride: Cute bridal shorts paired with a lacy cami or a fun tee is ideal. Light fabrics, such as silk, will also make you feel sexy – not sweaty – in the warmer climates!
- For the winter bride: Opt for something a little heavier like a viscose robe, which is fully lined and will keep you feeling warm first thing in the morning.
- For the autumn bride: Anything goes in this unpredictable season! It’s a good idea to check the weather forecast and then choose the appropriate attire accordingly.
Tip 2: What makes a good bridal ‘getting ready’ outfit?
A good bridal morning outfit should pass the following three questions:
- Is it comfortable?
- Does it make you feel great?
- Can you take it off without ruining your hairdresser or makeup artist’s hard work?
If you love soft fabrics and feeling super comfortable, then viscose robes are your perfect match. If you’re more into slinkier fabrics with a high-end look, then matte satins might be more your style. For the most affordable fabrics without compromising on quality, there is always rayon. As always, lace detailing can add a luxe effect.

Tip 3: Dress for the occasion
While it’s a no-brainer that the warmer months may require less clothing, it’s important to keep in mind who you’ve invited to join in your pre-wedding celebrations. If you’ve invited family over to get ready, then you might need something more modest, such as a lined robe.

Or, if you’ve invited more friends than family, you can choose something flirty and fun.

So, what's Cookies & Ry's favourite wedding morning garment?
“Our new favourite garment for wedding mornings are satin slips or dresses. Our Wanderer Dress was inspired by this and takes the classic nighty but with a wedding spin. It’s perfect if you have people visiting, or photos being taken and don’t want to be in a robe or PJs. You can even slip it off without ruining your hair and makeup!”
We like the sound of that!

Tip 4: Don’t forget to spoil your bridesmaids!
We think the best bridesmaid gifts are ones that can always be used again by your favourite girls. Cookies & Ry loves seeing brides create gift boxes with a few favourite items for the day:
“Popping a bridesmaid robe in a gift box, paired with a personalised hanger, a mini bottle of bubbly, and perfume or accessories will express how much you appreciate them being by your side.”
For a truly unique idea, fun personalised t-shirts are always a winner. Add your bridesmaid’s initials to the front so they can wear it for the wedding morning photos!
You can expect to see more and more brides getting ready with their gal pals in matching sets, according to Cookies & Ry.
“Brides are well and truly moving away from the old shirt from the back of the closet and making sure they have something unique to wear on their wedding morning.”
And what’s LENZO’s number one rule for getting ready on your wedding morning? ENJOY YOURSELF! Pop some bubbly and clink glasses with your bridal party as you toast to leaving behind the ‘Miss!’
