Hosting a Christmas party this year and want to add a little more holiday sparkle to your home?! Well, LENZO have teamed up with Haymes Paint to create the perfect Christmas tree DIY for you to create just in time for your festive event!

Our tinsel version of the classic Christmas tree is perfect for those who are wanting to be space-savvy or just want to have a fun DIY day with the little one in the lead up to Santa climbing down the chimney! It is really simple to make and is super easy to customise it to suit your Christmas colour palette.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Tinsel – approx. 13 metre total
  • Paint brush
  • Sponge
  • Wood – moudling in white purchased from hardware store – approx.13 meter total
  • Haymes Paint in your perfect palette. We used the shades of Phoebe, Berries and Lime.
  • Pencil
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • 3M Double Sided Mounting Tape

    Note: Ensure that you have enough tinsel and wood to cut into correct lengths.

    METHOD

    STEP ONE: Cut the tinsel to the following sizes: 0.1m, 0.2m, 0.3m, 0.4m, 0.5m, 0.6m, 0.7m, 0.8m, 0.9m, 1.0m, 1.1m, 1.2m, 1.3m, 1.4m, 1.5m

    STEP TWO: Use paint brush and paint all around the tinsel. Use a long brush or sponge to get into all the grooves of the tinsel.

    STEP THREE: Hang the tinsel to dry over night.

    STEP FOUR: Once dry, use the hot glue gun and put drops of glue along the thinner edge of the piece of wood, pressing down the tinsel against the glue as you go.

    STEP FIVE: Leave to dry.

    STEP SIX: Lay out the Christmas tree onto the floor in order. Stick double sided tape onto the backside of the pieces of wood.

    STEP SEVEN: To stick onto the wall - start from the bottom up pushing firmly down onto the wall to ensure it is stuck down. Leave 10-15cm between each plank of wood depending how tall you would like it to be!
