A fun twist on a timeless palette for two grooms
Just like the majority of Australians, LENZO threw our support behind marriage equality (because after all, we always say #YES to #LOVE). In encouraging more love within the world, we thought it was only appropriate to shoot a Bride and Bride Rainbow Wedding last October in anticipation for the unanimous response to the same-sex marriage postal vote.
Now that gay marriage is finally legal in Australia, we proudly present to you our very own Mr and Mr Wedding Editorial! Contrasting different patterns to create a fun take on a timeless black and white palette, we represented the yin and yang in this young couple's wedding day...
There’s nothing more timeless and classic than a black + white palette, which was the inspiration behind our recent shoot. Photographed by Jessie from I Shoot Events at one of Melbourne’s most luxe event spaces – The Westin – we couldn’t be happier with the collaborative efforts of some of Australia’s finest suppliers to help spread the message that love is love.
While black and white never go out of style, we were mindful of not wandering into dull + predictable territory. We asked our friends at Sketch and Etch to incorporate dots and stripes into the menus to give them a modern and fun edge (while still remaining formal), which they expertly fulfilled.
The Table Settings
The black and white theme spilled over onto our table, as we set the dining table with classic striped napkins and crisp white linen tablecloths supplied by Table Art Event Hire. A mixture of golden leaves with fresh green + white blooms by Raven and the Rose were integrated into the centre of the table in replacement of a table runner, along with tall black and white candles + marble candle holders by The Small Things Co.
The Food + Dessert
When it comes to styling any event, it’s important that everything – from the décor to the stationery and even the food – is consistent with the chosen theme. Ours was no different, and with the dessert being such a focal point at any wedding, we were conscious of bringing the entire theme together through the desserts. All provided by The Westin, it took every bit of our strength not to take a bite of the delicious spreads!
How adorable is the dessert signage, also created by Sketch and Etch?

And, of course, this event was so momentous that it deserved not one but three delicious cakes! We especially love the detailing inside the cake, which added a nice surprise after it had been cut. How cute is the ‘Mr and Mr’ cake topper, supplied by Jollywood?
The Westin even managed to make signature cocktails to match this black and white wedding! Is there anything they can’t do?!
And of course, on your Big Day only the best attire will do, so we dressed our models in these achingly stylish suits by Jack London.
The Last Minute Touches
Incorporating a bit of fun into this event was easy with a few well-placed balloons from Belle Balloons. Placed at the desserts spread for static decorations, these black and white striped + white ‘Mr and Mr’ balloons also doubled as a photo op as they accompanied our lovely couple outdoors for some romantic and whimsical snaps.
