We chat to the talented Leanne Anderson from Dream A Little Dream events about her creative business that specialises in kid's party styling, event management and stationery prints. Over to you Leanne!
Introduce yourself and Dream A Little Dream.
I started out many moons ago as an Industrial Designer before moving to Graphic design and have been working in corporate events for 16 years now. Dream a little Dream events is primarily a bespoke children’s party service offering full planning and event management, styling and dry hire. We plan and style adult events too.
Why did you start Dream A Little Dream?
I moved to Perth to access medical services & losing my husband due to terminal illness. The business was initially a partnership with Chantelle, whose husband also died of the same disease a few months later than mine in 2012. Starting the business was a welcome distraction from our mutual grief. Prior to this my late husband and I ran an event management and party hire business serving mostly the mining industry in the Pilbara, however, as is often the case in isolated rural towns we wore many hats and were wedding stylist, charity event coordinators MC’s and Auctioneers! After my husbands death I did not want to re-enter the stressful world of corporate events and decided to do something fun and whimsical. Chantelle has since moved on and is off on an Aussie Caravanning adventure.
What gap in the party market does Dream A Little Dream fill?
After some time offering basic themed packages we were receiving more and more requests for complete planning and bespoke styling services and realised busy parents wanted a one-stop shop. Our new clients wanted parties that truly reflected their child’s interests and met their expectations of all the Pinterest boards and blog posts of stylish events they had seen. We now offer everything from complete event management, stationery catering, furniture and prop hire and the hard graft of setting up and packing down. A particular niche is First Birthday’s and our signature is our attention to all the details, which encompass a theme.
Why should Dream A Little Dream be invited to a party?
Parents are time poor, stressed and busy with extra curricular activities. Many do not know where to start organise a party for 20 or more kids! We alleviate the stress so they can enjoy the day and make lovely memories with family and friends. Our core value is a party should be completely about the child, and secondly it should look fantastic.
What do you find captivating about the world of events?
The opportunity to unleash creativity and seeing the endless ideas and interpretations other industry peers come up with. I also absolutely adore seeing a child’s face light up when they see their party space for the first time and are transported to another world. I always selfishly try and stay for that part.

Totally lame, but I try.
What story will be told about Dream A Little Dream the day after the party?
Hopefully that we went above and beyond expectations with every-one having a fabulous time and the guest of honor drifting happily off to sleep dreaming of their big day.
