Hi everyone – it’s nice to e-meet you! Our team here at Moreton Hire have been working in the special event and business event industry for almost 50 years. We provide products and services for Events, Parties, Meetings, Conferences and Exhibitions. Our full range of services ranges from Marquee Hire and Party Equipment to Corporate and Custom Fit Out solutions. No matter how big or small, our team is here to help!
Why did you start your business?
Moreton Hire was founded in 1969 by Marlene and Kevin Morahan in Manly, Brisbane. The Morahan’s bought chairs for the school fete, but before they knew it, the locals were putting in their borrowing requests. "Moreton Bay Hire" was officially born in their family garage, offering party and building equipment for hire. Since these humble beginnings, we have grown and evolved. Our products, services, technology and sectors continuously developed to offer a modern service for our customers. Today, Marlene's children and grandchildren continue to drive Moreton Hire to be Australia's largest business event provider.
What gap in the party market does your business fill?
We love the party market, with so many exciting and innovative ideas constantly coming to the market! We pride ourselves on delivering the most reliable and quality product and services on the market – there’s no excuse for a dirty class turning up to your event (ever!) Moreton Hire founder, Marlene Morahan, has believed in customer experience from the first day of business back in 1969. It has been the foundations of our business and culture ever since. Our teams continuously strive to deliver a great experience - the customer experience we offer our clients, and the experience we are building daily.
Why should you and your business be invited to a party?
We know we might be 50 years’ old, but it isn’t a party without the golden oldies having a good boogie on the dancefloor! And of course, we have the essentials covered. You bring the music and the guests, and you can leave the rest to us! If it rains – we’ve got you covered! Need catering gear? No worries! We live and breathe parties… so we should be on the invite list!
What do you find captivating about the world of events?
We love the innovation and ideas that are truly endless in the world of events. Whether it’s a new boutique supplier, a new trend or a with a fantastic new way to engage guests … the world of events is so captivating in the way a simple space, a slab of concrete, a field, a backyard or a warehouse can be transformed and bring people together. From the Pavilion you sit under to the forks you eat with; everything can be tailored for the individual and the event.
Who are your go-to suppliers?
We are very lucky in our business, to work with a wide range of suppliers and clients! Also, being a supplier ourselves, it’s great to leverage off the collective genius of lots of different suppliers. A few we can’t live without are our local florists… Bouquet Boutique and Kate Dawes Floral Design in QLD and Floreat Design in NSW.
What is your go-to party tip?
Sometimes the simplest ideas can be the most effective, don’t take the risk with the weather, as it is too unpredictable and finally, don’t skimp on safety!
What is in your party purse?
Are we allowed to choose something that can’t fit in a purse? We love a marquee party, so if we could package them up, and fit them in our purse, that’s what we’d take!
You are hosting a dinner party and you can only invite three guests – dead or alive. Who are they?
Our founder; Marlene Morahan, no one can party quite like her! Our regular clients (you know who you are!) and the bar tender who serves us our Post-Event-Bump-In-Beverage…
What is your go-to party outfit?
Truth be told, our party attire is generally hi-visibility Fluro vest with a coffee in hand!
Describe your dance floor style.
It’s black, white or parquetry and is glossy or matt! It’s available in any size – no matter how big or small!
What story will be told about you the day after the party?
We like to hear when client’s say “thank god for Moreton Hire!”
