LENZO gets up close and personal with the #PASTRYQUEEN

Another slice of cake? Don’t mind if we do! The sweet Hannah from The Butcher’s Daughters Cakes has dropped into LENZO to talk about sugar and spice, and all things nice…

It’s been said before that a party without desserts is just a meeting, and we’d have to agree. This means Hannah has her work cut out for her as her boutique style cakes, glazed baked doughnuts, and ice cream meringues will be front and centre at any party.

Today, we party with The Butcher’s Daughters Cakes. Get to know the baker + dessert creator who follows her taste buds with every decision…

  • Besides my own, my favourite Instagram account is … Sweet Bakes! I’m completely obsessed!

  • I never leave the house without … my phone and La Labo Rose 31 perfume

  • I want my Instagram profile to make people feel … happy & hungry

  • Growing up, my dream career was … I can’t remember a time I didn’t want to make cake!

  • My style icons are … Pia Arrobio & Jesinta Franklin

  • My dream holiday destination is … Paris. I love to travel, and this city stole my heart

  • When I’m at a party, the first thing I notice is … THE CAKE, OF COURSE!

  • The one song that gets me on the dance floor is … ‘Valerie’ by Amy Winehouse & Mark Ronson

  • My number one party tip is … BE AS EXTRA AS POSSIBLE!

  • My party decoration must-have is … does cake count? If not, FLOWERS! Lots and lots of flowers!

  • My favourite cake flavour is … I can’t go past Caramel Mudcake

  • The day after the party, I want to be remembered as the one who … lasted the longest on the D-Floor!

  • If I could describe my brand in three words, they would be … unforgettable, sweet, and pink

  • The inspiration behind starting my business came from … my dad (The Butcher) inspired me to start my business. I’ve been lucky enough to grow up with an immense love of food, which grew from lots of early Saturday morning trips to the Queen Victoria Market with him to deliver meat. Mainly the inspiration came from watching him turn all his passions in life into his dream career

  • The biggest misconception about my job is … the time and hard work it takes to create all our desserts and cakes

  • The most fun part of my job is … seeing the enjoyment that people get out of seeing and eating my creations – it makes all the hard work worth it!

  • The best advice I can give someone wanting to start their own business is … just do it! Give it your all and don’t do anything half-assed. All the worries you may have will work themselves out on the way. It’s a fun ride!

  • My business is unique because … every single cake and dessert is handcrafted with that particular customer in mind, as well as being a business that is all about supporting other women in business.

Thank you for stopping by, Hannah! X
