Please introduce yourself and your business.
"I'm Alyse Vozzo, and I'm the creator of The Stylist’s Guide. We specialise in the management, styling, and set-up of special events, including weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, children’s birthdays, milestone celebrations, launch parties and much more! We're all about providing clients with a service that goes above and beyond, to turn your dream event into reality. "
Why did you start your business?
"The Stylist’s Guide was born in 2016, when I already running 'Lola’s Lemonade Stand' (a vintage drinks station for events). My husband and I trialled 'Lola’s Lemonade Stand' at our own wedding and our guests loved it! After being hired for several events in Adelaide, I noticed that that they were missing a key element - a fun aspect - and something in which adults can have a little bit of fun with (this observation came to me when guests complimented my mismatched + old items that I used to set up the drinks station).
I also found that it was hard to find someone to assist me with my own wedding planning. I wanted to create the perfect event for myself and my husband - the kind that was perfectly suited to us.
So, drawing on my unique personality, love of fashion, and making things look pretty, I made my new vision a reality as I began my passion for planning, styling and organising events (I'll be the first to admit that I'm OCD and I love helping people!)"
What gap in the party market does your business fill?
"Our website features an extensive selection of products, including cake toppers, seasonal ornaments, and other items and collections that will constantly be changing with seasons + trends. With only a small number of each item available, we ensure every event remains exclusive and one of a kind!
We have a unique style, are perfectionists, and understand it's not always about the big things, but instead about building relationships with clients to understand their wants and needs. We put time, thought, and care into every single event we host. We love what we do and want that to be showcased in each individual job we complete.”
Why should you and your business be invited to a party?
"We should be invited to every party – because when we are there, everything changes. We will completely take over and turn those finer details into the details the guests can't stop talking about! We will make your event so #INSTAGRAM-WORTHY that people will be posting about it for weeks, long after the event is over! It’s not a party unless it’s a Stylist’s Guide Party!"
What’s the best thing about your job?
"Honestly, it's all about seeing the final product - that's always the most amazing feeling ever. When I plan events, I take each of them on as if I would be planning the event for myself. I always think about what finishes I want and what final touches I would expect from someone else.
Sometimes, I really do get so caught up in it all that when I finally take that step back once the event is over, I even shock myself. I will always look at my husband and say, “Can you believe I just did all that!?”
Who are your go-to suppliers?
"Oh gosh, there are SO MANY! I try to use as many as possible! We are so lucky here in Adelaide to have so many wonderful local businesses that we can use for our events! In saying that, JAKS Hire and Events, Tiziana Rinna & The Scent Candle Co are on my speed-dial. They can always make things happen for me... yesterday!"
What is your styling philosophy?
"Make the event memorable! Not only do you want your guests to be talking about your event for weeks, months and years to come, we want to make sure your event is a true reflection of you. There is nothing more that your guests will love than all the little details, which make the event personal + welcoming. It doesn’t have to be something big for them to remember your event - the smallest detail is what they love most."
You’re a new addition to the crayon box: what colour would you be and why?
"That’s easy! We would be YELLOW, as it's the the colour of sunshine. It's associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy. Yellow produces a warming effect, arouses cheerfulness, stimulates mental activity, and generates muscle energy. Yellow is also often associated with food."
What have been some of your favourite projects that you have recently worked on?
"My sister's engagement party! We took a step back in time and went down the old roads of Italy (not really, but it was close enough!) We sang ‘That’s Amore’ all night, and we had a rustic chic theme with a huge touch of Italian traditions. We had a grazing table, tomato cans, wine, Prosecco, Aperol, limoncello, and of course pizza! The décor just followed through.. . it would have to be on of my most favourite jobs!"
What story will be told about you the day after the party?
"That I was totally EXTRA! I will look at every detail and make sure it has been covered, right down to the napkins and straws!"
