Yes, I admit – bows might not be the most groundbreaking of bridal trends. But unlike the ultra girly accents we’re so familiar with, the 2017 bridal bow has been modernised, exaggerated, and given some much-craved edge.
A far cry from the oh-so-blah waist-cinching sash, the bows of the now are all about creating scale and drama. Architectural folds and asymmetric knots form the central focus of some of this season’s key looks, with bridal big guns like Viktor & Rolf, Delphine Manivet and Lanvin structuring entire collections around the bow.
For those who like their frocks with a little froufrou, romantic bows and ties are in no short supply. Delicate knots at the shoulders and sleeves add an unexpected embellishment to some of the season’s subtler styles.
We may never be free of the satin sash belt, but for the modern bow-loving bride, 2017 is your year.
