Tonight on The Edit, we feature this #tooCOOL ‘underground’ event by our friends at Peter Rowland.
The event was initially inspired by something so simple as the location, with the Gallery 1 space at ACMI being quite literally underground. This then helped the team conjure ideas and themes stemming from the cool city of Tokyo.
To do this, the Peter Rowland team created this amazing space that immersed guests in a world of Japanese subculture, including three large exhibition spaces featuring an array of neon dance floors, interactive arcade games, hanging cinema screens, cherry blossom and giant paper crane installations, graffiti walls and roving Japanese entertainers and musicians.
Of course, Peter Rowland is famous for their #OutOfThisWorld catering services, so the food and drinks seamlessly tied in with the theme. Think neon sushi shops, sake bars and self- serve Fro-Yo station - #YUM!
We spoke to Camilla from Peter Rowland who said the most memorable moment was when “15 Harujuku girls storming the stage during the speeches and performing a flash-mob dance.” And we JUST had to ask her for her top party tip:
"If your event has a theme make sure you carry it through from the large scale/ big picture components right through to the details - work out all the touch points that the guests will experience and make sure they have something to engage with – bathrooms included! Also, use suppliers you know and trust that can bring out their expertise and creativity to add to the concept."
Love LENZO xx
